Christmas Shop |
Published 14/12/15 |
Over the last couple of months I've been working on creating some merchandise to sell over christmas, such as art prints, greetings cards, small note books, and gift tags. Some of which I have been selling online. This week all the items that I've been working on are now up for sale in the Gatehouse Arts Christmas Shop, in the Eastgate Gallery, Harlow. Next to the old Advice Centre building.
As well as my artwork theres also the work of Hanh Vong with his brightly hand painted hats, Ollie Brown's t-shirts with a lot of very fine detail, Amanda Westbury with her beautiful ceramic work, Jim Brown's greeting cards displaying some of his amazing sculpture work, as well as many other artist from Gatehouse Arts.
|
The Shop opens tomorrow Tuesday the 15th of December and will run for one week so be sure to get in there and buy a gift of a card for someone special this Christmas and remember buying items such as these from small pop up shops like this is a great way to support local artist and talent in your area.
Poison Flower |
Published 1o/12/15 |
Local newspaper Harlow Star has recently wrote up an article about the project Poison Flower by Christopher Tew, which I worked on last year creating illustrations of Chris out filming. One of which has been published in his Feature.
From June 2013 up until October 2014 I was carrying out some work for a photographer Christopher Tew. I worked along side him on a number of projects where I would use my Illustrations to document his photography. Most of these Illustrations where for his Harlow portraiture project R'low Tan. I also worked on some illustrations to go along his photoshoot of singer, songwriter Charlotte Howell. But one of Chris' biggest projects which has been gaining a lot of attention lately is his film/documentary Poison Flower.
Poison Flower started from discovering people living in the local woods off the edge of one of Harlow’s main roads. After emigrating to the UK from Latvia and Estonia they found themselves living in tents in Harlow. Poison Flower follows the lives and friendships that some of these members of the camp have formed. touching on a number of subjects such as homelessness, and alcohol and drug abuse this documentary shows some powerful scenes of what goes on in this town that people are completely unaware of.

Market |
Published 14/11/15 |
I've now officially opened my own online store, with my latest signed limited edition prints / greetings cards being my first items on sale.
Buying a handcrafted item means your buying something which has been created with love and care. It also means that each one is unique, The printing process I use gives slightly varying results from one print to the next, and when hand painting or drawing, no one stroke will be completely identical when creating multiple of the same image. I don't see these as faults, I see them more as unique pieces of art.
The whole process of creating artwork and prints is an enjoyable process, and more then often puts me out of pocket due to the expense of materials. But that wouldn't stop a golfer from buying new clubs, or a gamer from camping outside the store for the latest console, we'll all carry on doing what we love, But if theres a way I can help finance my costs of production, then what better way then to sell my produce.
I intend to gradually build up more stock to sell in my little online market as I keep creating new art. I only hope that people can enjoy my artwork as much as I love to create.
Keep your eye out, Ill try keep you posted through Facebook and twitter as I upload new content.

Print Workshops
|
Published 05/10/15 |
During the weekend Gatehouse Arts held their annual OPEN.
As a member of Inkstain Studios, I had the opportunity to open up to the public to share my passion for art and print. To give our visitors a true printing experience, I ran a screen printing workshop on both days with fine artist Patricia Mageinness. We had a very successful out come, with people of all ages and backgrounds, who all produced some beautiful designs on a piece of transparency which we then exposed onto silk screen. The resulting prints looked amazing, and got everyone very excited to see their designs pass through the mesh onto paper. It was an enjoyable experience and I'd hope to hold workshops again in the future. |
Day One

Day Two

I'm very grateful to Patricia who helped out on both days of the two workshops, and to everyone who attended, and responded with such lovely feedback. Also thank you to Gatehouse Arts and Acava for providing the spaces necessary for artists to hold such events as this.
Workshop at Gatehouse Arts
|
Published 21/09/15 |
Next month is the annual OPEN of Gatehouse Arts, where I will be opening Inkstain Studios to the public along with founder Ollie Brown. For this event I will be putting on a screen printing workshop for free to anyone who attends.
The workshop will run in the common room of Gatehouse Arts, Westgate building, Harlow. It will run for approximately 2 hours, and we be suitable for the whole family to join. Starting at 1pm we will be drawing up designs, writing a poem, sketching a dog, or what ever comes to mind. It's totally up to you. From that I will be producing a screen, which will have all the images exposed ready to print. Each person can have a go at pulling a print from the screen, and take there copy home with them at the end. The aim of the workshop is to be educational, and fun, giving the public a hands on experience of what Gatehouse Arts has to offer. |
For any questions or more information regarding the workshop please e-mail: [email protected] or follow me on twitter for updates @lw_illustration.
Colour Shop Exhibition
|
Published 18/09/15 |
After several months of being a Gatehouse Artist it seems about time I entered some of my work into the gallery. With this months exhibition being ‘Colour Shop’ I felt that my prints ‘Square Scape’ were the perfect fit, along with my latest colourful #crazyface design t-shirts.
Colour Shop is located in Harlow town centre's Eastgate gallery opposite the old citizens advice bureau, and will be running up until the 4th of October. It's a grate opportunity to see the work of local artists, which have been produced here in Harlow. We’ve had some great feedback, and will look forward to future projects and exhibitions to come. |
